As part of our dedication to collecting and preserving historical artifacts, we have been collecting oral histories from our veterans. By doing this, their memories and sacrifice can and will be shared with others, "Lest we Forget".


Jean Tanner

Jean Tanner is a veteran of WW II and served under General Eisenhower in North Africa as a Chemical Warfare Specialist at Allied Headquarters. Her unit, the 149th Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps, was the first unit of women to serve in a combat zone.


Kenneth Mahaffey

Kenneth Mahaffey is a veteran of WW II and was a marine aviator. He served at Midway Island, the Marshall Islands and the Gilbert Islands.He flew photo reconnaissance and dive bomb mission over Japanese airfields. He was later an instructor of Fighter tactics at Rodd Field in Corpus Christi, TX.



James Jones

An army combat MP, Rifleman and first scout, Mr. Jones served in Europe until being wounded in combat in Northern Germany.


John Cox

Mr. Cox is a naval aviator and a veteran of the Korean War.


Van Pease

A veteran of the 76th Armored Div of Patton's Army, who earned 2 Bronze Stars while serving in Europe during WWII.


Odie McMeans

Mr. McMeans was an army combat medic and half-track driver who served in Europe on D-Day, in the Battle of the Bulge, and in Germany.

Mr. McMeans received 3 Bronze Stars and a Presidential Citation award.



J. Waite Higgins

Mr. Higgins served aboard aircraft carrier USS Marcus Island during the Battle of Leyte Gulf and other famous Pacific battles.
